Supply Chain Specialist in Leiden

The Supply Chain Specialist will oversee and optimize the flow of pharmaceutical products from production to consumption while ensuring compliance, efficiency, and reliability throughout the supply chain. The role is essential in meeting the needs of patients, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders in the pharmaceutical industry.
Areas of responsibility:

  • Supply Chain management: Manage the end-to-end pharmaceutical supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, and distribution processes. Runs the Sales & Operations Process to support the mid to long-term decision-making process.
  • Forecasting and planning: Utilize forecasting models and demand planning tools to anticipate inventory needs and optimize supply chain efficiency. Creates a mid to long term manufacturing plan and identifies associated threats and opportunities.
  • Vendor management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical products. Is the first point of contact for our Contract Manufacturers.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and other relevant guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor product quality throughout the supply chain and implement corrective actions when necessary. Takes the lead in the Change Control Process, CAPA's and Deviations related to the products and partners within his or her supply chain.
  • Inventory Optimazation: Implement strategies to optimize inventory levels, reduce excess inventory, and minimize stockouts while ensuring product availability. Ensures timely availability of released inventory in all markets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risks within the supply chain. Analyses performance with the aim to improve processes in order to optimize timelines and collaboration. Coach & train more junior supply chain colleagues.
  • Teamwork: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including QA, QC, Procurement, Sales and Regulatory Affairs, to streamline processes and drive business objectives.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze supply chain data and performance metrics to identify trends, evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs), and make data-driven decisions to improve supply chain effectiveness.
  • Risk Management Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions to the supply chain, including sourcing alternatives and implementing business continuity measures.

Knowledge:

  • Master's degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in pharmaceutical supply chain management, with a deep understanding of industry regulations and best practices.
  • Proficiency in SAP S4HANA, supply chain management software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., APICS, CPIM) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and experience implementing process improvement initiatives is preferred. Lean certification is a plus.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and experience project management. PMI / Prince2 certification is a plus.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years' experience in Supply Chain Management in a global pharmaceutical environment.
