Your role in the story:

An important aspect of Foundation - Underwater Acoustic (Jr.) Engineer is to assess the underwater noise impact of our installation operations (esp. pile driving) and advise on mitigation techniques in line with applicable regulations. This is a key aspect of the offshore execution but also of the permitting process and in this role, you will assess the impact of offshore installation methods on marine life and provide input to the consent process, permit applications and authorities before coordinating the relevant activities offshore.

Underwater noise generated during the installation of offshore infrastructure (e.g. windfarm foundations) is a topic of growing importance due to its potential harm on marine life. This position therefore requires you to have an understanding of foundation engineering, global regulations and underwater piling acoustics and its impact on marine life. Not quite there yet in terms of experience, but eager to grow into this role? What you will be working on:

• Develop and maintain an overview of piling noise regulations around the world;
• Solving the puzzle of offshore pile installation regarding all rules and regulations for each tender/ project;
• Building and maintaining a network in the piling noise community, incl. relevant specialist institutes, regulators, subcontractors, equipment suppliers etc.
• Performing underwater piling noise predictions;
• Selecting and designing noise mitigation measures;
• Ensuring project execution complies with consent conditions;
• During offshore execution coordinate subcontractors, provide support to construction team and preparing reports;
